Lens, the French football club based in Lens, has taken another step towards securing a place in the top tier of the country's football league with their 2-0 victory against Metz in round 17 of the Ligue 1 season.
The match was played at Stade du Ray et de la Periode in Lens and saw Lens dominate from start to finish, with the team scoring two goals in the first half and none in the second. The first goal came in the 14th minute when Openda scored after a corner kick. He scored again just before halftime, this time from close range, as Lens took control of the game.
Metz fought hard for the remainder of the match, but Lens were too strong for them. They continued to create chances throughout the game, with some good play from their forwards, who created numerous scoring opportunities.
